Friday Flash Week 9 - 14th June 2024
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We've had a fantastic week at ADSS, highlighted by our Musical Alfresco concert on Thursday afternoon. This event showcased the incredible talent of our instrumental music students. Our bands, strings, and choir ensembles delivered wonderful performances, which is particularly impressive given that many of these students only started learning their instruments this year. A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated Music staff: Danni Basso, Julie Stewart, Tim Searle, and Bronte Kubler. We also extend our gratitude to all the families who attended and supported their children.
On Tuesday, we celebrated International Day of Play with "Pop of Play" sessions in our nature play area, Urimbirra, organised by our Deputy Principals. The children had an amazing time engaging in loose parts and messy play, allowing their imaginations to flourish. They built forts, created mud brownies, and explored nature, truly enjoying the day and all its playful possibilities.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting week packed with events, a great way to wrap up the term. The Senior Sports Carnival is on Tuesday, and we encourage students to show their house pride by wearing their sports team colours. Participation and having a go are key aspects of sports day, and we hope to see all children enthusiastically taking part.
Last night's Think U Know parent session was excellent and provided valuable advice from the Police on protecting children from online predators. The level of deception used to manipulate children online is truly alarming. I would encourage every parent to have a look at the resources on the Think U Know website. Given the increasing use of social media and technology among young children, we are conducting a child safety session next Monday for all students from Prep to Year 6. This session, run by the Yamanto police, will focus on online safety and how to protect themselves in the digital world.
We have had mulitple reports form parents about students behaving inappropraitely on the bus on the way home. If you have made the decision for your child to catch the bus independently - please educate your child about the bus code of behaivour. These are attached. Children have been told repeatedly at school that they should remain seated on the bus and should be sitting in year level order witht the yongest students at the front. I encourage parents of children who use bus transport to read this website and if there are any issues follow the process included.
Warm regards,
Kelli Harvey
Principal

Statements also show if your child’s account has a credit. If you have an amount on the statement that has a minus sign in front of the amount, this means you are in credit. Eg -$10 indicates a credit.
Please DO NOT PAY. The credit can be used for any future or upcoming payments. You will still need to contact the office and request the credit to be applied to an invoice.
