Friday Flash Week 10 - 27th June, 2025
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
That’s a Wrap on Term 2! 🎉
What a fantastic final week we’ve had at ADSS!
🏃♀️ Sports Carnivals
Monday and Tuesday were packed with energy, fun and the best house spirit we’ve seen in four years!
Congratulations to Mirage House for taking out the Interhouse Athletics win for the second year in a row! 🏆
🎻 Strings Workshops
From Monday to Wednesday, our talented strings students took part in the Regional Strings Workshops.
It was a wonderful opportunity for them to represent Amberley, collaborate with students from other schools, and further develop their musical skills.
🖤💛❤️ NAIDOC Day
On Thursday, students engaged in meaningful learning experiences to deepen their understanding of First Nations culture.
Congratulations to Roy Legionheart, this year’s Karen Condon Deadly Award winner!
👋 Staff Farewells & Welcomes
Some staffing changes are ahead for Term 3:
Christine McMillan is moving to a new role as an Inclusion Teacher at Rosewood. We thank Christine for her contributions and wish her all the best.
Ann Bettridge (already known to many students) will be taking over her class.Tim Searle is off to the United States—safe travels, Tim!
He’ll be replaced by Patricia Semmens, who brings a wealth of experience.A warm welcome to Lily Ryall, who will join the team and later replace Isabelle Howells while she is on maternity leave.
📘 Report Cards & Curriculum Update
Report cards were sent home this week. We’ve now transitioned to Version 9 of the Australian Curriculum, which includes updated standards in several subjects.
We’ve also implemented the Department’s standardised marking guide for behaviour and effort. These changes have raised expectations, and our students have stepped up beautifully.
💡 Reminder: A ‘C’ means your child is on track and achieving at year level—right where they should be at this point in the year.
Please reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
