Friday Flash Week 5 - 9th of August 2024
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Student Learning and Preparation
Our students are currently working diligently in class, building up their knowledge and preparing for the upcoming end-of-term assessments. We have witnessed some wonderful learning taking place, with students producing truly outstanding work. It’s been a joy to see their creativity and effort shine.
Farewell to Renee Bond
This Monday marks a bittersweet moment for us, as we say farewell to our incredible Guidance Officer, Renee Bond. Renee has been promoted to a Senior Guidance Officer role at the Regional Office, a well-deserved recognition of her dedication and hard work. Throughout her time at Amberley District State School, Renee has made a profound impact on the wellbeing of our students and staff, always leading with kindness and a genuine commitment to making our school a better place.
While we will miss her dearly, we are thrilled for her new opportunity to make a positive impact across many schools in the region. We wish Renee all the best in her new role. Michelle Higgins will continue working with us until the end of the term, and we will be welcoming a new Guidance Officer in Term 4.
Termly Parent Representative Group Meeting
I’d like to remind you that this Thursday at 2pm in the Library, we will hold our Termly Parent Representative Group meeting. All parents and caregivers are warmly invited to attend. At ADSS, we highly value parent voice and input in shaping the direction of our school. These sessions provide a wonderful opportunity for us to collaborate and make a positive difference in the lives of our students.
The focus of this meeting will be on updates to the 2025 Student Code of Behaviour and our social and emotional wellbeing programs.
Bullying No Way Week (12 to 16 August 2024)
We are also gearing up for Bullying No Way Week, which runs from 12 to 16 August 2024. This is Australia’s key bullying prevention initiative, bringing schools and communities together to find effective solutions to prevent bullying.
Wear Something Purple
Purple is the hero colour for this important week, symbolizing our commitment to standing against bullying. On Friday, 16th August, we invite all students to "Wear Something Purple to School."
Morning Circles and Lunchtime Activities
Throughout the week, our morning circles will focus on teaching students about positive behaviour, respecting differences, and standing together in kindness. We’ll also be organizing lunchtime games to encourage a sense of belonging through teamwork and inclusivity.
2024 Theme: "Everyone Belongs"
The theme for 2024 is "Everyone Belongs," emphasizing that we all have a role to play in preventing bullying. We’re encouraged to speak up and create a safe environment where everyone feels supported, respected, and valued. I encourage all parents to read the attached materials and visit the Bullying No Way website for additional resources.
