Friday Flash Week 6 - 16th of August 2024
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What a delight it was to see our students enjoying the sunshine today after a week of rain!
This week, as part of our social and emotional learning program, we have been focusing on the National Week of Action Against Bullying. It was wonderful to see so many children come to school dressed in orange and purple, showing their support. We’ve been encouraging our students to speak positively and stand up against unkind behaviour, as we work together to create a supportive and bully-free environment.
A heartfelt thank you to all the parents who attended the Parent Representative Group meeting on Thursday. Your input is invaluable in shaping our Student Code of Conduct, Whole School Social and Emotional programs, and Positive Behaviour for Learning Processes. We truly appreciate hearing from our community, as your voices help us align on the values and future we envision for our students.
We are also thrilled to introduce our new attendance awards, "The Good Egg Awards," kindly crafted by Bremer State High School. While it’s sad to say goodbye to our beloved Shiny and Goldie, who are in need of some reconstructive work, we’re excited about the fresh start. The trophies were unveiled at today’s parade, and classes have been buzzing with egg-cellent name suggestions. Our student leaders will shortlist the suggestions on Monday, with a school-wide vote to follow. The official naming will take place next Friday. Here are some of the creative ideas submitted so far:
- Omletta
- Eggzilla
- Baby Flash
- Yolko
- Benedict
- Scrambled
Additionally, we’ve shared an enrolment video on our Facebook and Instagram pages. Please help us spread the word by sharing it on your own social media! Securing our Prep enrolments is crucial for our staffing model next year, and your support in this is greatly appreciated.
We also celebrated our wonderful support staff this week! This is the team that manages finance, facilities, communication, first aid, enrolments and front desk just to name a few! We are so fortunate to have this highly skilled team working at the school who go above and beyond every day for our students!
Also a big thank you to Sarah Duce who coordinated the wonderful book covers created by staff and students that are on display at Yamanto Central! They are currently on display so please check them out. Well done to Ruby and Grace for your promotion video.
Congratulations to 15 of our students who competed at the Western Ranges track and field meet last week. Everyone performed extremely well with many PB’s achieved. Special mention to Manaia, Emillie, Dominic, Ryker, Nate, Darcy, Rose and Matilda who will compete at regionals in a couple of weeks
Lastly, Parent-Teacher Conversations are just around the corner. Please ensure you book a time to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher. At ADSS, we believe that when parents and the school work together, we achieve the greatest success for our children.
Thank you for your ongoing support and I look forward to seeing you all at our Book Week Parade on Wednesday!
Kind Regards,
Kelli Harvey
Principal

Statements
Statements will be sent home in the coming week.
The statement is an overview of your child's finance account and indicates any outstanding amounts owing or credits sitting against your child's account. This information can also be viewed through QParents.
Your child could have a credit due to an overpayment, an excursion paid twice or a refund.
When you want to use the credit for an excursion etc, please let the office now so it can be applied.
Credits will not automatically be applied to an invoice, you will need to advise the office to do so.
If you see a negative amount on your statement - PLEASE DO NOT PAY.
