Term 3 Celebration Newsletter - 13 September 2025
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Thank you so much for your ongoing support throughout what has been a wonderful term! This week, we’ve been celebrating our students as they complete their assessments and participate in their year-level celebrations of learning. It was fantastic to see all the students proudly wearing their favourite team jerseys. I do know of one staff member who decided to wear a different team's jersey in protest of their own team's performance—it gave us all a good laugh!
Our Year 4 students had their annual Big Day Out yesterday. The children challenged themselves with the high ropes courses, and used team work to overcome physical challenges throughout the day. We have wonderful feedback about how well behaved our students and we are very proud of all of them
Staffing Update
You would have received an email yesterday regarding some staffing changes for next term. Barb Christie will be on long service leave for the first two weeks, and Deidre Anderson will be Acting Principal at another school for the first four weeks. Their roles will be filled by Cas Whitley and Alan O'Neill during this time. Additionally, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Michelle Higgins, who will be finishing up as our Guidance Officer. We warmly welcome Selena Box, who will be continuing in the Guidance Officer position next term and ongoing.
Morning Procedure Change
I’ve spoken with parents numerous times about the issue of children arriving at school too early. Some mornings, students are being dropped off as early as 7:30am, with no school activities to attend. Unfortunately, we do not have staff on duty at that time, which creates a safety concern and impacts the smooth operation of the school.
Before school, our staff are busy with timetabling, planning, and meetings to ensure a seamless transition into learning once class begins. To align with local schools and ensure everyone’s safety, our gates will now remain locked until 8:20am when staff are on duty. If your child is involved in a before-school activity, staff will meet them and walk them to their location. For families needing before-school supervision, Schools Plus offers both before and after-school care and has availability. For more information about how to enrol please see our school website.
We greatly appreciate your understanding and cooperation with this change. I hope you and your families have a restful and enjoyable holiday!
Warm regards,
Kelli Harvey
