Friday Flash Week 3 - 18th October, 2024
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It was an absolute delight to welcome so many of our wonderful grandparents to school today! Based on feedback from our Parent Representative Group and student council, we made a few changes to the format, and it truly turned out to be a lovely morning. The joy on the children's faces as they spent time with their grandparents was heartwarming, and it’s so exciting to see more grandparents joining us each year.
A special thank you to those grandparents who kindly "adopted" extra grandchildren today—it was much appreciated! This year, we were thrilled to have over 300 grandparents join us!
High Expectations
As we approach the end of the year, it's crucial that our students continue to come to school ready to learn. We want them to finish the school year strong! Below, I’ve included the high expectations we have for our students, and what we look for when considering them for a Soaring Award at the end of the year. As a school community, we all play a part in holding high expectations for our children, helping them to reach their full potential.
Parent Representative Group Meeting
Our next Parent Representative Group meeting will be on Thursday, 7th November at 2:00 pm in the Library, and we warmly welcome everyone to attend. We’ll be discussing the 2025 events schedule, the school opinion survey, and our plans for the year ahead. Your input is invaluable, and we would love to see you there.
Updates
I’m thrilled to share that we have been awarded the Flexispace program and will have a Behaviour Specialist joining us in 2025. These programs will further support our students, and we’re excited to share more details once planning is finalised. In the meantime, our students have been loving the new play areas and equipment. This week, we added jumping elastics, and our staff have been teaching the children some of the classic playground games many of us enjoyed growing up.
Seeking Donations
We’ve also received a wonderful donation from Bremer State High School—a car racing ramp for our BASE students! In addition, we’ve built a truck pit in the Prep play yard. If you have any unloved Matchbox cars, grip balls, trucks, or sand play toys at home, we’d love to put them to good use. Donations can be dropped off at the office.
Thank you for your continued support. Together, we’re creating a fantastic environment for our children to grow, learn, and thrive.
Kind Regards,
Kelli Harvey
Principal
