From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

What a fantastic week it has been! Between our Swimming Carnivals, Christmas Concerts, Soaring Awards, Graduation, and the Defence Christmas Party, we have enjoyed such a wonderful celebration of our students’ successes and the joy of coming together as a community.

I’d like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the staff who have worked tirelessly to make these events happen. From arriving early to staying late, their dedication ensures our students have these memorable experiences. Your efforts are deeply appreciated!

A big thank you also to all the parents and caregivers who came along to support these events. As Principal, it’s such a privilege to see the pride on your faces as your children shine on stage. Your support strengthens our school community, and we truly value it.  A big thank you for your support of the Snow Glow Disco where we raised $1700 for Student Council which will go towards sports equipment and a new lecturn.

Be sure to check out the end of this newsletter for lots of photos from these wonderful events!

Next Week: Ecomarines Week – Going Green for Ocean Sustainability

Next week, we’re embracing sustainability with a mini-unit on ocean conservation and environmental sustainability. To accommodate planning for 2025, we’ll be running an alternative timetable, so your child may have the chance to work with different teachers or year levels Our focus will be on practical learning, connecting with nature, and fostering respect for the environment.

Here’s what’s happening each day:

  • Monday: Create a Trash Monster & Water Warriors visit
  • Tuesday: Wear green clothing for Ecomarines & RSPCA visit
  • Wednesday: Wrapper-Free Wednesday – Can your lunch be wrapper-free? The year level with the least trash wins!
  • Thursday: Build an insect hotel & enjoy a movie on the green
  • Friday: Free Dress Day, whole school picnic & Emu Parade

We’re looking forward to a fun, engaging week of sustainability-focused activities!  Don't forget to bring those bottle caps in!

Staff Gifts

On behalf of all our staff, thank you for the thoughtful gifts and beautiful cards we receive each year. Please note, as a government school, we follow a strict Code of Conduct. This means we’re unable to accept gifts valued over $150 or items like scratchies or vouchers that are redeemable for cash. We are grateful for your kindness and understanding.

Also if you are away next week - please log your holidays on QParents so you don't receive the daily SMS message whilst you are on vacation.

Next week’s newsletter will be a condensed version, ensuring you have all the essential information for a soaring start to 2025!

Warm regards,
Kelli Harvey
Principal
