Term 2 Week 1

From the Principal

Hi Everyone,

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful break over Easter and enjoyed some quality time with your loved ones. As you may have noticed, we have a new format for our communication, and we're excited to announce that we'll be using School Zine from now on. We believe this platform will provide a more user-friendly way to communicate with our school community. Plus, it comes with a handy app where you can access all our communications and even choose your preferred language for newsletters. Details on how to log in and access this app will be sent out next week.

Congratulations to all the students in Year 3-6 who partcipated in the Cross Country on Tuesday morning.  It was a fabulous morning and we were so proud of all our students.  Congratulations to the winning house Sabre! Thank you to all the parents who came along and supported the children!  Also thank you to our OSHC provider School Plus who provided a water station for the students.

Next week, our school will be observing ANZAC Day. We always have a touching service, and everyone is invited to attend and pay their respects.  Please find more information at the bottom of the newsletter.

In Week 4, we'll be holding our annual Mother's Day stall and are in need of volunteers to help run the stall on May 8th and 9th. If you're interested in lending a hand, please email kharv45@eq.edu.au and let us know your availability.  Also if you are interested in being involved in any events on our school calendar - please don't hesitate to get in contact.

Academically, we're pleased to report that our Term 1 data shows we're on track to achieve our targets. Our focus remains on improving English and Maths. You can assist your child by ensuring they're at school on time every day to avoid missing out on crucial learning opportunities.

School Attendance Update

Our current attendance rate is at 90.4%, which needs improvement. Our goal is 95%, as students need to be at school, on time, every day! Remember, students who attend school punctually every day go into our weekly prize draw!

What’s on Next Week

• Monday: Soaring Learning. Senior Choir during first break.
• Tuesday: Strings at 8:10 am. Running Club at 8:30 am on the oval.
• Wednesday: Boys' soccer and rugby training at 7:45 am. Band at 8:10 am. Junior Choir during second break. Uniform Shop open in the afternoon. School ANZAC service at 9 am.
• Thursday: ANZAC DAY - Leichhardt Park service commences at 9:30 am. All students welcome.
• Friday: Assembly
  

We also have Breakfast Club every morning!

Seeking Donations

We are looking for donations of milk crates and large reels as we have leftover astroturf and would like to create more seating areas for our children.

Friendly Reminders

• Homework: Encourage your child to spend 20 minutes reading each night and mark it off in their student diaries. Reading Eggs and Maths Online logins, found in the front of student diaries, can also be used for homework.
• Download QParents to keep your details up to date and log your student's absences.

Interschool Sport Update

Call our Sports Update line (option 3 on 3280 3111) every Thursday afternoon for weekly Interschool Sport information like draws and locations.

Payments Due

• School Resource Scheme (SRS) payments are overdue. Please contact the office if you haven't paid or entered into a payment agreement.
• Year 4 Ocean Life Education incursion: Payment of $12 & consent due Fri 19/04/24.
• Year 6 Camp (20-22 May): Payment of $281.50 and consent due 26/04/24.

Our preferred methods of payment are BPoint, Qkr!, EFTPOS, or bank transfer (BSB 064-417, Acct. 00091292).

Save the Date

• April 24: ANZAC Ceremony at 9 am.
• April 25: ANZAC Day. Students welcome to join the service at Leichhardt Park at 9:30 am. Please come in uniform.
• May 6: Labour Day.
• May 8 and 9: Mother's Day Stall. Gifts range from $2 - $15; more details to come.
• May 10: Flash's Birthday walk to school. Meet at Stallard Park at 8:15 am for a walking bus to school!
• May 17: Ipswich Show.
• May 20-22: Year 6 Camp.
• May 24: Early Years Expo.
• June 5 and 6: School photos.
• June 12: Music Alfresco at 3:15 pm.
• June 18: Senior Sports Day.
• June 20: NAIDOC Day.
• June 21: Celebration of Learning and Free Dress day.
