Friday Flash Week 5 - 28th February, 2025
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
We were very fortunate today to have our Federal Member for Parliament, the Hon Shayne Neumann MP, visit the school to present our school captains with new flags to fly at the front of the school. Mr. Neumann spoke to the children at assembly about the importance and history of our flags. Our school leaders were very excited to raise the flags on the flagpole.
School Clean Up Australia Day
You may have noticed our school looking extra clean this week! In preparation for School Clean Up Australia Day, children have been learning about our school expectation: “We are respectful when we look after the environment.” They have been very mindful of sustainable practices and their impact on the environment.
Carpark Safety
Just a reminder to follow the car park expectations in the afternoon and be mindful of safety. The pick-up zone does not open until 3:05 pm, and queuing too early can affect the flow of traffic. Your cooperation in ensuring a smooth and safe process is greatly appreciated.
Homework Expectations
A friendly reminder that our school expectation for homework is 20 minutes of reading per night. Children also have access to online programs, such as Reading Eggs and Maths, to supplement their learning. Login details for these programs are in the front of the children's diaries.
Parent Representative Group
This Thursday at 2:00 pm in the Library, we will be holding the Parent Representative Group meeting. All are welcome to attend. This meeting is an opportunity for parents and myself to discuss what is happening at the school and to work together in making informed decisions about the strategic direction of the school. Many great initiatives have come from this consultation group, including updates to the school uniform, improved communication methods, and changes to the Student Code of Conduct.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events.
Have a great week!
Warm regards,
Kelli Harvey
Principal
Amberley District State School

Wellbeing and Engagement
Exciting Staff Updates & New Initiatives!
This week, we are thrilled to welcome two new staff members to our team:
- Mrs. Aeron Jones – Learning Leader Wellbeing and Engagement
- Mrs. Rebekah Nolan – Student Wellbeing Worker
Both Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Nolan will be collaborating with our staff to support students' wellbeing and engagement in learning.
This year, we introduced ACE tickets to reward positive playground behaviour. Each week, a winner from each house receives an icy cup voucher, and the top house leads their war cry at assembly. The term winner enjoys a house colour free dress day.
Congratulations F1-11!

School Attendance

Our School attendance rate is currently 93.5%. Our goal is 95%.
Students who have 95% or above attendance each term will receive a SOARING attendance certificate.
Please contact your year level Deputy Principal, if you need support with attendance at school. Unexplained absence letters are deployed twice a term. You can update attendance through the QParents app.
Congratulations to Prep D and 3B for winning our attendance eggs this week!

Friendly Reminders
It’s not uncommon for children to have accidents at school that require a change of clothes. If this happens frequently for your child, we encourage parents to pack a spare set of clothes in their child’s bag.
Our supply of spare underwear is running low, and we would greatly appreciate donations of clean, pre-loved uniforms and underwear. These can be dropped off at the school office.
If your child borrows spare clothing from the school, please ensure it is washed and returned to the office as soon as possible.
Thank you for your support!
