From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Happy 8th Birthday to Flash Our School Mascot!
This morning’s Walk to School and Flashtastic Friday assembly were a vibrant celebration of our Safe, Friendly and Respectful culture. It was wonderful to see our students sharing in the joy of community and celebrating with Flash who I think is the most loved mascot in the Ipswich region!

Although I was representing Amberley District State School at the Metropolitan South Principal Consultation Day, I took great pride in hearing how strongly our school is aligned to the work of the region. The feedback affirmed that our strategic focus on Reading and Student Engagement is the right work at the right time, and the early data show encouraging gains in student progress.

Community Highlights

  • Mother’s Day Stall
A heartfelt thank-you to Heather Barnes and her team of volunteers. The stall raised $2,000 for the Student Council. We hope all mums and caregivers enjoy their special gifts this weekend.  We wish you all a wonderful Mothers Day

  • Premier’s Reading Challenge
The challenge is now under way! Daily reading fosters curiosity, vocabulary growth and critical-thinking skills—key drivers of academic success. If your child needs a new reading log, they can collect one from the library.
The Department of Education has released excellent tips for supporting reading at home; please click here.

Looking Ahead

Next week is our final short week of the term, with the Ipswich Show Holiday on Friday.

Thank you for continuing to partner with us to help every child soar. Your ongoing support keeps our community strong and our students thriving.

Warm regards,

Kelli Harvey
Principal
