Friday Flash Week 6 - 30th of May 2025
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
What a wonderful week it has been at Amberley District State School! Our students have enjoyed a range of exciting incursions and excursions that have brought learning to life in engaging and meaningful ways.
Our Prep students are buzzing with excitement as they hatch baby chickens in their classrooms. Year 1 enjoyed a visit from the Wildlife Rangers, where they met a variety of animals—Chewy the crocodile was a clear favourite! Meanwhile, our Year 4 students ventured out to the Darling Downs Zoo for a fantastic hands-on learning experience.
A heartfelt thank you to all our parents and caregivers for your ongoing support of these experiences. Real-life learning opportunities like these help students connect their classroom learning to the world around them.
We would also like to invite all families to our Parent Consultation Meeting on Thursday, 5 June at 2:00pm in the Library. This term, we will be discussing our Nature Play spaces and upcoming school enhancements. Your feedback is incredibly important to us, and we know that great things happen when schools and families work together.
Also on Thursday, we will be going green for World Environment Day, hosted by our amazing Ecomarines team. The Ecomarines will be running a fundraiser to support environmental projects around the school. If you’ve passed by the Gumbuya Garden recently, you’ll have noticed the wonderful growth of new plants, thanks to their care and dedication.
Finally, we have officially started enrolments for our 2026 Prep cohort. It was such a pleasure meeting the families and children at our first enrolment session. If you have a little one starting Prep next year, please contact the office to book your enrolment appointment. A great way to help your child prepare is by joining our Little Jets Playgroup, held on Thursday mornings in BASE. Everyone is welcome!
Warm regards,
Kelli Harvey
Principal
