Friday Flash Term 3, Week 7 - 29th August, 2025
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Our students have had another wonderful week, highlighted by the opening of our brand-new playground! What has made me especially proud is that throughout the week, more than 50 students have approached me—without any prompting—to say thank you and share how much they appreciate this new play space. It is heartening to see our school values of being safe, friendly, and respectful learners shining through in their words and actions.
Parent Teacher Conversations
Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended our Parent Teacher Conversations on Tuesday. On behalf of our teaching staff, I want to say how much we appreciate your ongoing support as we work together to support your child’s learning.
Father’s Day Stall
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our annual Father’s Day Stall this week. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $2,500 for our Student Council—an amazing achievement!
Pupil Free Day – Friday 5
A reminder that next Friday is a Pupil Free Day as per the school calendar. Students are not required to attend school on this day.
Celebrating Our Staff
This week is School Speech Pathologist Week, and we are proud to acknowledge our wonderful speech pathologist, Miranda Yau, who joined us at the start of the year. Miranda’s passion for supporting children and ensuring they receive the help they need is a true asset to our school.
Next Thursday, we will also celebrate Teacher Aide Appreciation Day. We are incredibly fortunate to have so many dedicated teacher aides working across our school. They play a vital role—supporting student learning, supervising play, delivering interventions, and caring for our children each and every day.
Year 6 Camp
Next week, our Year 6 students head off to Camp Warawee! A special thank you to the staff who give their time to make experiences like this possible. I know our students will have a memorable and exciting camp adventure.
Have a great week!

Wellbeing and Engagement
This Week’s Focus: We Are Respectful When We Respect the Rights of Teachers to Teach and Students to Learn
At Amberley District State School, we’re focusing on how students can show respect by allowing teachers to teach and classmates to learn without disruptions.
At school, this looks like:
🧠 Listening the first time
🙋 Staying on task
🤫 Using quiet voices
🤝 Encouraging others to learn
Families can support this at home by helping children start the day ready to learn:
✅ Establish a consistent bedtime so they’re well rested
🍎 Pack a healthy lunch and water bottle
📚 Remind them to be kind and respectful
🧘 Practise calming strategies using the PAUSE process:
1. Shake the mind jar
2. Take 3 deep breaths
3. Drink water
4. Name the feeling
5. Go to the calm down area
6. Go for a walk
These small steps help set your child up for success, and reinforce our school values of being Safe, Respectful and Friendly Learners.
Let’s work together to create classrooms where everyone has the chance to shine!

School Attendance

Our School attendance rate is currently 90.1%. Our goal is 95%.
