Friday Flash Term 3, Week 8 - 5th September, 2025
From the Principal
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It’s been another full and exciting week at ADSS!
Our Year 6 students had a fantastic time at Camp Warrawee. Staff said it was the best group they’ve ever taken—our students were beautifully behaved and made us very proud. Year 1 students also headed off to school swimming for the first time, and I’m not sure what was more exciting—the bus ride or the lessons!
This week we celebrated Teacher Aide Appreciation Week. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated team who support students across the school. Beyond the classroom, our aides help with intervention, play leadership, playgroup, First Nations dance groups, library programs, and even lunchtime discos! Thank you for everything you do. We celebrated with a morning tea supported by School Plus.
Next Thursday, 11 September, is R U OK? Day. The message this year is Ask R U OK? Any Day—because life happens every day. Whether it’s family, friends, or colleagues, checking in can make a real difference. Most Australians say they feel grateful and supported when someone asks if they’re OK, so don’t hesitate to start the conversation. We’ll also be sharing the message of #Friendbetter with our students.
👉 Children are invited to wear something yellow to school on the day to show their support.
Looking ahead:
Year 5 Camp: Our Year 5s head off on Monday—have a wonderful time!
Celebration of Learning: Friday 19 September, 12–1pm. Parents and carers are invited into classrooms to see the wonderful learning from this term.
Father’s Day: Wishing all dads and father figures a very Happy Father’s Day this Sunday. We hope you enjoy the gifts and time with your families.
Have a wonderful week!
Have a great week!
Kelli Harvey
Principal

Wellbeing and Engagement
🪣 This Week’s Focus: We Are Friendly When We Are Bucket Fillers
At Amberley District State School, we’re focusing on what it means to be a bucket filler – someone who fills others' emotional buckets with kind words, helpful actions, and friendly choices.
This aligns perfectly with R U OK? Day and the message to #FriendBetter – reminding us all to check in, reach out, and be the kind of friend who helps others feel safe, seen, and supported.
Being a bucket filler might look like:
😊 Saying something kind
🙋 Including someone in a game
💬 Asking “Are you okay?” and really listening
🧡 Helping someone who looks left out or sad
At home, talk with your child about how small acts of kindness can have a big impact. Ask questions like:
Whose bucket did you fill today?
How do you feel when someone fills your bucket?
What can you do tomorrow to #FriendBetter?
Let’s work together to raise children who are Safe, Respectful and Friendly Learners – and friends who lift others up. 💛
